As the world looks toward COP30 in Belém, Brazil, an important question comes into focus: Can food systems drive climate and biodiversity solutions together? Join us at the Global Landscape Forum (GLF) Climate for the hybrid session “Rio Synergies in Action: Strengthening Integrated Solutions for Food Systems Transformation” – a deep dive into how integrated, landscape-level approaches can unlock climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable food production all at once.
Transforming our food systems is no longer optional – it’s essential. Agriculture both drives and suffers from climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation. Yet, it also holds the power to reverse these trends when guided by holistic, integrated solutions. This session will explore the success factors for implementing and scaling integrated approaches in agriculture and food systems transformation. It will focus on how agroecology, climate-resilient agriculture, and soil fertility management can come together to strengthen the “Rio synergies”- the connections between the Rio Conventions on climate change, biodiversity, and land.
Hear from Rosinah Mbenya of PELUM Kenya, a member of the Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture and Agroecology (KCOA) network, as she shares insights from Kenya’s National Agroecology Strategy process. Her experience
highlights how local innovation and participatory policy processes can shape national action – and inspire global transformation.
